Unlike NRT, the nicotine delivery from an electronic cigarette mimics the nicotine pharmacokinetics of tobacco cigarettes unaccompanied by high levels of toxicants and carcinogens.22 Thus, electronic cigarettes may be well positioned to satisfy this nicotine addiction, and mitigate the intense nicotine withdrawal symptoms that sabotage many quit attempts. People with BHC want to stop smoking, and indicators suggest that electronic cigarettes would be an acceptable and well-received intervention.
