The Spam-whitelist page is used in conjunction with the Mediawiki SpamBlacklist extension, and lists strings of text that override Meta's blacklist and the local spam-blacklist. Any administrator can edit the spam whitelist. Please post comments to the appropriate section below: Proposed additions (web pages to unblock), Proposed removals (sites to reblock), or Troubleshooting and problems; read the messageboxes at the top of each section for an explanation. See also MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.

Please enter your requests at the bottom of the Proposed additions to Whitelist section and not at the very bottom of the page. Sign your requests with four tildes: ~~~~

Also in your request, please include the following

  1. The link that you want whitelisted in the section title, like === example.com/help/index.php === .
  2. The Wikipedia page on which you want to use the link
  3. An explanation why it would be useful to the encyclopedia article proper
  4. If the site you're requesting is listed at /Common requests, please include confirmation that you have read the reason why requests regarding the site are commonly denied and that you still desire to proceed with your request

Important: You must provide a full link to the specific web page you want to be whitelisted (leave out the http:// from the front; otherwise you will not be able to save your edit to this page). Requests quoting only a domain (i.e. ending in .com or similar with nothing after the / character) are likely to be denied. If you wish to have a site fully unblocked please visit the relevant section of MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.

Note: do not request links to be whitelisted where you can reasonably suspect that the material you want to link to is in violation of copyright (see WP:LINKVIO). Such requests will likely be summarily rejected.

There is no automated notification system in place for the results of requests, and you will not be notified when your request has a response. You should therefore add this page to your personal watch list or check back here every few days to see if there is any progress on it; in particular, you should check whether administrators have raised any additional queries or expressed any concerns about the request, as failure to reply to these promptly will generally result in the request being denied.

Completed requests are archived, additions and removal are logged. →snippet for logging: {{/request|20633#section_name}}

Note that requests from new or unregistered users are not usually considered.

Admins: use seth's tool to search the spamlists.

Notice to everyone about our Reliable sources and External links noticeboards

If you have a source that you would like to add to the spam-whitelist, but you are uncertain that it meets Wikipedia's guideline on reliability, please ask for opinions on the Reliable sources noticeboard, to confirm that it does meet that guideline, before submitting your whitelisting request here. In your request, link to the confirming discussion on that noticeboard.

Likewise, if you have an external link that you are uncertain meets Wikipedia's guideline on external links, please get confirmation on the External links noticeboard before submitting your whitelisting request here.

If your whitelist request falls under one of these two categories, the admins will be more willing to have the source whitelisted if you can achieve consensus at one of the above noticeboards.

Proposed additions to Whitelist (web pages to unblock)

The Way It Is (song) YouTube External link

Link requested to be whitelisted: https://youtu.be/GlRQjzltaMQ so the video of the song on YouTube can be shared on External links of The Way It Is (song) (the video is on the official Bruce Hornsby channel). BTW how has YouTube come to be blacklisted? I've never had a problem in the past. References to YouTube aren't blocked (an hour ago) so why are External links? DadaNeem (talk) 21 December 2021

@DadaNeem: no Declined, just use the expanded link as you probably did for the other links. the short youtu.be was spambot spammed, used to circumvent blacklisted youtube videos (youtube contains good stuff, but also a lot of useless crap, plain spam and copyvio material). --Dirk Beetstra T C 17:44, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

Request to whitelist pages on yourstory.com

I am writing an article about Harsha Suryanarayana and I need these links to be whitelisted, so that I can cite them in the article.

Deepak Purti (talk) 11:08, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
@Deepak Purti: You understand what yourstory.com is, right? These are worse than primary sources, these are plain advertising links. Dirk Beetstra T C 05:50, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
@Beetstra: the company profile for YourStory on Bloomberg reads,[1]
YourStory Media Private Limited operates an online media platform. The Company offers profiles stories of entrepreneurs and hosts conferences, workshops, and meetups for business networking opportunities to entrepreneurs, as well as connects startups and talent through its job board. YourStory Media serves customers in India.
Mint, an Indian financial daily newspaper, describes it as "India’s largest digital media house for entrepreneurs".[2]

These are fancy ways of saying "self-publishing platform / blog", only driven by people with a financial stake in an organization seeking to promote the same. I'm sure there are better sources to support the biography. Kuru (talk) 14:47, 17 December 2021 (UTC)

Request to whitelist page on block.xyz

Recently, Square, Inc. has been renamed to Block, Inc. Their new corporate website is now block.xyz and it is an official link. I think it is now important to unblock the website given that any press releases from Block, Inc. should it be used as reference for any new announcements from the company. 20chances (talk) 18:43, 14 December 2021 (UTC)

Request to whitelist page on filmcompanion.in

This is needed for Baashha as it is written by Baradwaj Rangan. As mentioned previously, I will only request for FC pages written by notable people (such as Rangan) for whitelisting with regards to WP:ATTRIBUTEPOV. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:48, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

Oops, I meant this link: filmcompanion.in/opinion/tamil-opinion/southern-lights-a-super-star-a-super-movie/. How I entered the wrong link I don't know. Maybe I copied the link from above, and now the link appears twice in MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. Please delete this section so I can enter the right link again. Request to whitelist page on infinitedegrees.xyz

Infinite Degrees has a detailed action sports database where people can easily search for tricks and see what tricks riders have done. It should be whitelisted so that we can embed links detailing snowboarders, skiers, skaters, and surfers tricks and their video on wikipedia. bmichigan7 (talk) 18:43, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

@Bmichigan7: I have some additional questions here. Since you are saying that it is hosting videos of tricks I would like to hear a bit about the nature of the site: copyright status of material hosted, authority of the maintainers, etc. etc. .Xyz sites were blacklisted because of the ease of getting these TLDs, and the resulting spamming of sites which do not comply with our inclusion standards. We whitelist liberally, but do need some assurance regarding the general contents when whitelisting a whole domain. Dirk Beetstra T C 07:08, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
@Beetstra: Infinite Degrees claims ownership of all video that is being hosted on the site along with the data that is with it (this includes trick names and details, competition names, and athlete names). The site is used as a learning, research, and coaching tool for action sports. You can download the videos onto your own personal device, share them, or just like/rate a trick. The front end acts as a YouTube or Instagram for tricks, but the backend services APIs that access exclusive trick data. The site is run by people who work with the US Ski and Snowboard team to improve the overall understanding of action sports.--Bmichigan7 (talk) 08:56, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

Request to whitelist page on onlyfans.com

Amrapali Gan is the new CEO (and past Chief Marketing Officer) of OnlyFans. We should be able to link to her SFW profile there, from her Wikipedia biography and related Wikidata item. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 21:30, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

Request to whitelist pages on themoviedb.org

Where: one simple About link and the EL section on main The Movie Database WP article page. Reason: the article page should contain the primary domain name in its EL section. --Jimthing (talk) 23:56, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

Request to whitelist page on filmcompanion.in

It is needed for Kaithi as it is very insightful. The source itself says, "Edited excerpts from an interview between Lokesh Kanakaraj and Baradwaj Rangan". --Kailash29792 (talk) 05:17, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

Request to whitelist page on lulu.com

It is needed for Free Software Magazine#Free Software Magazine Press as it cites the book.

0mtwb9gd5wx (talk) 11:47, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

@0mtwb9gd5wx: no Declined. Why do you need a website that cites the book if you can cite the book directly? Or do you mean that the book that you want to link to is freely hosted on lulu so anyone can read it (in which case it is also not needed, you have full details for everyone to find a copy of the book)? --Dirk Beetstra T C 11:57, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
@Beetstra: It shows how they published the physical object. ...0mtwb9gd5wx (talk) 12:16, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
@0mtwb9gd5wx: yes, that is what you have ISBN 9780578032726 already for - so people can find the physical book in a (physical) library that is closest to their location, on google books, amazon, in worldcat, on .. whereever. It does not need the singled out link to lulu. --Dirk Beetstra T C 12:34, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

Request to whitelist pages on filmcompanion.in

The usual reason: Baradwaj Rangan. These articles are used in Kaithi (with the bogus .com extension) but cannot be archived unless whitelisted. Is it possible though to whitelist an entire root page like this? filmcompanion.in/author/baradwaj-rangan/interviews/ Or only individual pages? --Kailash29792 (talk) 08:11, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

Whole path on filmcompanion.in

  • Link requested to be whitelisted: filmcompanion.in/author/baradwaj-rangan/interviews/

@Kailash29792: Do you mean that you can link to e.g. filmcompanion.in/features/tamil-features/top-15-tamil-films-of-2019-asuran-super-deluxe-vetri-maaran-ram-peranbu-dhanush-monster-sj-suryah-lakshmy-ramakrishnan-house-owner-baradwaj-rangan/ as a document using this as the 'path'? --Dirk Beetstra T C 10:42, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

I really don't know since this is an individual page, not a root page. I'm not even sure if whitelisting filmcompanion.in/author/baradwaj-rangan/ will whitelist all the pages it contains. But I think this is the root to filmcompanion.in/author/baradwaj-rangan/interviews/, so it's worth trying. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:11, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
That isn't a root page to anything, because all the links on it don't share the same root URL. Whitelisting that page would not cause other pages to be whitelisted also. Doesn't this film critic have some other publication outlet that isn't blacklisted? ~Anachronist (talk) 16:31, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
Apparently not, and he joined FC after quitting The Hindu. Maybe this request was futile, so please decline it. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:40, 30 December 2021 (UTC)

Request to whitelist pages on filmcompanion.in

The reason is to include the review about a particular album, or the songs it had been listed in top charts, which is needed for Meenakshi Sundareshwar. 171.61.254.173 (talk) 14:28, 28 December 2021 (UTC)

no Declined. The authors of those pages don't seem to be notable reviewers. One is basically anonymous. The authors are basically making blog posts, and with no evidence of reliability or notability, we generally don't cite blogs in articles. ~Anachronist (talk) 16:35, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
Maybe just the interview with Justin Prabhakaran could be whitelisted since it is an exclusive? Kailash29792 (talk) 07:09, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
