Per , <math>...</math> markup is generally preferred to render expressions using the radical symbol √, but it does not work with the Media Viewer extension, which is used to view images full-screen on mobile devices. So this template should only be used in image captions until T263572 is fixed.
For example: can be produced with <math>\sqrt[4]{1 + 2x}</math>.
