  • Note: the printed scale on the map, "1 inch represents approximately 30 miles", or "1 in≈30 mi", can be represented as "c. 1:1,900,800". The ratio is determined by computing the number of the smaller units within the stated quantity of larger units. In this example, 30 miles equals 1,900,800 inches (30 mi × 5,280 ft/mi × 12 in/ft = 1,900,800 in), so the map has an approximate scale of 1:1,900,800.

• map: The title of the map, if published in an atlas, book, or journal. May be wikilinked or may use map-url, but not both. Displays in quotes.
